‘Body image & self esteem were definitely things I struggled with growing up. I think a lot of it came from being in such a rural environment with so little diversity, I felt like my curly hair, brown skin and big eyebrows made me stand out in a bad way and so I had to be even better, thinner, prettier and smarter just to fit in.

For me coming to uni and surrounding myself with celebrated diversity really helped me accept & love myself for who I am – once I let go of what I thought others expected of me I started learning to cultivate a healthy relationship with food, exercise, studying and remembering to take take time for myself!’
